“What your data scientists, what your analytic experts can dig into for the level of detail, what they’re going to go after, is very different than what should be probably the two- or three-slide version that’s going out as the recommendation,” Adams said. “The executive leadership wants to know that someone did that due diligence behind it; they probably don’t want to know the p values, the regression, all the detailed pages and pages of numbers.
“The ability to really storytell with data, to translate between analytics and kind of the business effects ... If they’re seeing that truly those actionable insights are going to drive value, they’re going to buy into it.”

Data is not just "science":
It's always that blend of art and science. No tool, no matter how good is going to replace all the experience you get between the ears of those category managers. We give them a way better starting point, and a lot less of wading through the data to get to that place to make a good decision. That's the art and that science mix.
Why prescriptive analytics matters - the view from Profitect customers
“When I think about big data and what we’re doing with prescriptive analytics and AI, it’s about how do I take that repetitive activity, crunching the numbers, creating the report, and spend less time on that – and more time on taking action?” Adams said in the article.
Using AI and prescriptive analytics is all about encouraging associates to take action based on data, he adds. It prompts associates to think smarter about the inventory they have on hand, and to reduce shrink. The analytics can also be used to spot crime, judge the effectiveness of sales and provide other benefits to retailers.
No Thanks, We are Too Busy- The Power of Simple + What’s in it for me?
We all have goals, deliverables and things we are accountable for. The tools, systems and processes we need to leverage to reach those goals and deliver what is needed may or may not be ideal for the current purpose & priorities. But we still need to deliver using them thus moving the cart forward even if by pausing to “change out the wheels” we might save time and make it easier to deliver. - Chris Adams
Writing children’s books with my daughter- a fun learning experience together
My daughter Molly is very creative, energetic and loves animals. We have always enjoyed coming up with stories together. One morning back when we were both doing school & work remotely, I saw an article about writing children’s stories. We did some brainstorming together and started thinking about story ideas.
Molly & I both learned a lot along the way and our first book, Alice the Barn Kitten, was published on Amazon in March of 2021. It featured an original story that we plotted out together from her love of animals in general, and the barn cats that hang out at the farm she takes riding lessons at specifically, for her to bring to life with hand drawn illustrations that Molly drew inspiration from favorites like The Day the Crayons Quit.
Continuous little steps enable big leaps.
It is that day to day effort, learning and asking for help when you need it that sets you up to be able to make bigger jumps over fences when the time comes to ride. - Chris Adams
